Acquiring the habits of highly successful students Part 3

Acquiring the habits of highly successful students

Part 3

Everyone wants to be successful in life, but where are the keys to success? Do we have to go out and search for those keys, or do we have those potentials already within ourselves? When we begin to examine life, we can see that it is divided into two aspects – life within and life without; internal life and external life – and we see that these aspects are of equal importance. Even if we have renounced the world, gone far from civilization, and live in the wilderness doing nothing but meditation, we cannot ignore external life. We still have to see that we eat, do our ablutions, and preform our practices on time. So life in the external world is as important as life in the internal world. Even one who has renounced the world has to understand the word relationship properly, because life itself is actually a relationship

“The Harmful Effects of Smoking”http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/quit_smoking/
There are many different effects of smoking. There are a lot of things that smoking affects like the lungs, heart, teeth, skin, and just about a lot of different body parts. Smoking can also cause lots of different types of cancers like lung cancer, blood cancer, and even bladder cancer. Smoking also causes the staining of heart, and some people end up getting their limbs amputated. Smoking also causes heart attacks and strokes for the people that have been smoking for a long time. The airways also end up swelling up and cause people to stop breathing which means that they die right on the spot.

Acquiring the Habits of Highly Successful Students
                                PART 2
If we are to succeed in life, we must hone our learning skills.
1.  The first step in this direction to sincerely point out the driving force or motivation. Let’s relax, and start listing the reasons that impel you to study some topic, as crude as they may be. It’s possible that your list is empty. Don’t worry, it only means that you have not identified any reason to study the chosen and specific point (it’s for sure that you are excellent learner in other areas of life.) If you don’t have any motivation to study, then give me the list of reasons, why you don’t want to study, and please note that the list cannot be empty. Whether you found a huge list of driving force or a list of reasons for not studying, the end product of this step compromises at least one item ( a positive or negative driving force)

Acquiring the Habits of Highly Successful Students Part 1

Acquiring the Habits of Highly Successful Students

Part 1

We humans are innate learners, as learning is the   cornerstone for survival. We must remember, abstract and apply knowledge in diverse (and often harsh) environments in order to develop into and behave as truly intelligent beings. In short, the adaptability and resilience exhibit stems from learning. Now, a key issue to learning is the driving force behind it, i.e., the motivation or stimuli to learn. We can learn because of fear (we want to learn how to protect ourselves from

danger.)  We can learn just out of curiosity (our natural inquisitive behavior.) We can learn because we want to reach some social status (approval of others is a potent stimuli to learn.) We can learn simply because we want to learn something new everyday.

Student Success Statement

“Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of.”

                                                                -Socrates

What I think that this statement means is that your name can be the biggest jewel as long as you know how to make it and shine it like no one had before. What this also means is that your name is not someone else but you because we all have different personalities.

How Successful Students Prepare for Test
PART 2
8. Make summary sheets, flash cards, and practice test.
9. Always carry some kind of pocket work and make use of wasted spare minutes by reciting and thinking about what you are learning.
10. Learn something new or difficult in your strongest intelligence, sense or in your dominant hemisphere. Reinforce is with as many different ways as possible.
11. Find a study guide partner or two in each class and routinely take turns teaching each other the material.
12. Prepare for each class as if there will be a pop quiz. The single most important way to prepare for a test is to study many days in advanced. Study each day to prepare for a test that is coming in a few days or weeks. When you are prepared, you will do great on the test and you will be confident.
