The Importance of
Taking Personal Responsibility
The
importance is to take your responsibility with you. If you don’t then that is
choosing the wrong. Always take care of your responsibility before doing
something else, and if you don’t, it can make even more problems with your
life. When everything else has receded into finality
behind a clear wall of judgment, self responsibility remains as the only thing
someone can reference for vindication.
Responsibility — it evokes images of austere emotions; a call to
sometimes own up to unpleasant but necessary personal conduct and moral
obligations. A lesson taught from the first day of first grade to the last day
of life. A test we seem to fail over and over again and pass at a high cost.
Therefore, it can appear obvious why so often, when facing the
consequences of their decisions, people often throw their hands in the air and
naively fake accountability. For if we have established how lofty taking
responsibility for our actions often feels, then shouldn’t we acknowledge,
accept and excuse most failures in this area?
Maybe the way of considering this involves how much of our
humanness we can sacrifice in the answer. If we answer yes, then we place
ourselves much lower on the evolutionary chain then we previously stood.
Because what sets us apart as an advanced species lies not in bipedal
locomotion and the ability for speech, but in our proclivity for ethical
reasoning and conscientiousness. We willingly recognize the possibility for
taking the blame.
